Coming Back To The Lord


We have so much to gain if we are faithful to the Lord.

In John 14:1-3, Jesus says, “In My Father’s house are many mansions and I go to prepare a place for you.” Revelation 21:4 says, “And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.”

Heaven will be a great place, certainly all of us like to go there. No words can describe how marvelous and beautiful Heaven will be. And it will last forever and ever without end.

If we go to heaven, we do not have to go to hell to suffer eternal punishment. Hell is a horrible place.

In Mark 9:43-48, Jesus says “If your hand causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life maimed, rather than having two hands, to go to hell, into the fire that shall never be quenched where their worm does not die, and the fire is not quenched.” Jesus is telling us that whatever that is in our life that is going to cause us to sin and be lost, it is better for us to correct it so that we do not have to go to hell and be eternally lost. Those Christians who have wandered away from the Lord and those who rejected Him will all go there.

By obeying God, we have so much to gain but if we choose to disobey Him, we will have much to loose.

John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son” to die for us. This tells us that how deeply God loves us. We read in 2 Peter 3:9, “The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.”

The parable in Luke 15:11-24 illustrates how God longs for those who have wandered away in sin to return to Him. The prodigal son who took his inheritance from his father went into a far country and squander away all his inheritance in riotous living. Consequently, He became so destitute and was hired out to feed pigs. He was so hungry that he even wanted to eat what the pigs fed on. Finally, he decided to go back to his father and be one of his hired servants.

Luke 15:20 says, “And he arose and came back to his father. But when he was still a great way off, his father saw him and had compassion, and ran and fell on his neck and kissed him.” In this parable the father represents God. It shows how anxious God wants us to come back to Him if we have sinned and wandered away from Him. If only we are willing to come back to Him, God will always run to us with open arm.

Lord does not want anyone to be lost, if you have wandered away from the Lord, quickly repent and turn back to Him. He has already paid the price for our sins by taking all our punishment upon Himself. He is forever willing and ready to save us at any time.

James 5:19 tells us, “Brethren if anyone among you wanders from the truth, and someone turns him back, let him know that he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save a soul from death and cover a multitude of sins.”

We know that if we reconcile with Him, our soul will be saved from an eternal death in Hell and the multitude of our sins will be covered and forgiven. How marvelous!

Luke 15:7 Jesus says, “I say to you that likewise there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner that repents than over ninety-nine just persons who need no repentance.”

Luke 15:10 says, “Likewise, I say to you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.” If we repent and return to the Lord, all of heaven will rejoice!

1 John 1:9 says, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” Notice it says that He will cleanse us from ALL unrighteousness.

If you have drifted away from the Lord, God is waiting for you to come back to Him. All that you need to do is to repent of your past sins and unfaithfulness to God, making up your mind to give up all your sinful practices and faithfully attend the worship services of the Lord’s church.

Do As our Lord says in Revelation 2:10 , “Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life.”
