Why Should We Pray?

We suffer difficulties, sorrows, adversities, sickness, diseases, hurts temptations etc. in our lives. At times, even our family members and friends cannot help us at all. We do not know what to do. At such a dilemma, I would like to call upon all Christians to start seeking, turning your mind and heart to the Lord and pray fervently an perseveringly to him for help and consolations.

Prayer is simply talking to God, to be in the presence of God, and to share with him our thoughts and feelings. God speaks to us through His Word, the Bible, messages, and we talk to the Lord in prayer. If you do not pray, your faith will leave you. When you pray, give thanks to God for all His Gifts.

Everything starts from prayer. What is a prayer? It is merely our communication with the Lord, pouring out our bitterness to him, telling him about our needs, expressing our love and thanks to him, surrendering our problems to him etc. To pray to Christ is to love him. If we pray we will be able to love and if we love, we will be able to serve others more effectively.

Prayer is not asking. Prayer is putting oneself in the hands of God, at His disposition and listening to his voice in the depths of our hearts. It is the will of God that all His children must pray. Every child of God must learn how to pray. If you trust in the Lord and the power of prayer, you will overcome any feelings of doubts and fear and loneliness that people commonly feel.

Scriptures Calling Christians To Pray

God ordained that He will build His kingdom on earth through our prayers. Prayer is not asking. Prayer is putting oneself in the hands of God, at His disposition and listening to his voice in the depths of our hearts. It is the will of God that all His children must pray. Every child of God must learn how to pray.

Every time, we need to make a decision concerning our families, our job, our career, where to invest, we need to pray. Jesus said, “ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.” Luke 11:9. Prayers can transform nations, can change your situations, life and the world around you. If we pray, darkness will not prevail on this earth, for the power of God will be released to change every situation for good.

You can pray for the salvation of nations, governments, your family members, your wife, your husband, your children, your neighbors, your friends, your colleagues and all the unsaved ones. You can pray for your job, career, business also. Through your prayers, nations will be transformed, churches will be revived, grow in numbers and in maturity. Jesus wants us, you and me, to become “A House of Prayer”.

God wants to use us to be a blessing to others. We are committed to pray regularly, by ourselves and with others. Just speak to him. Tell him everything, talk to him. We have to be consistent in our prayers so that we will not fall into the traps of the devil.

If we do not pray, sooner or later, we will fall into the temptations of the evil ones and will face all kinds of spiritual dryness, problems and crisis. There are some people, who, in order not to pray, use as an excuse that life is so hectic that it prevents them from praying . This cannot be, because prayer does not demand that we interrupt our work. We can enjoy praying to the Lord while we are working too.

If you are searching for God and do not know where to begin, learn to pray and take the trouble to pray every day. You can pray anytime, anywhere. You do not have to pray in the church only. So, let’s commit ourselves to prayers from today onward, and see yourself and all those around you be transformed to glorify our God.
